CAHNR Diversity Enhancing GA Competition Announcement
In an effort to enhance the diversity of graduate students enrolled in CAHNR, the college is pleased to announce the availability of two half-time Graduate Assistantships (level 1, 10 hours/week) per academic year for a maximum period of two years for MS and three years for doctoral students.
The two Graduate Assistantships are available for recruiting graduate students starting in Fall 2022. The GAs must be used to recruit underrepresented graduate student populations (members of underrepresented race/ethnicity, veterans, LGBTQ+ and people with disability). The application package of prospective students (CV, transcript(s) and test scores, if needed) should be submitted by February 25, 2022. The CAHNR Administrative Council will review the applications and select the two most competitive applicants for the GA. The criteria for the GA are provided below:
- The student must hold a four year baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university.
- The student must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
- The student must possess a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 for the undergraduate degree.
- The student must fulfill all the admission requirements for the UConn graduate school and the specific program (department) of study.
- The student must be supported by a matching half-time GA provided by the PI, Department or other sources.
- A short justification on how recruitment of the applicant will enhance the diversity of the program and college must be included.
- Current matriculated/enrolled graduate students are not eligible to apply.
The application package should be forwarded electronically as a single pdf file to lynn.grabowski@uconn.edu by 3:00 pm on February 25, 2022.
